The Trans-Pacific Partnership Updates.

17 Jun

The article on the TPP has been updated.  Please see the original article (immediately below the article about the Deedy trial) or link here:

http://teri.nicedriving.org/2012/06/the-trans-pacific-partnership-tpp/

Update 2 added Friday, 22 June.  Canada and Mexico to join the TPP.

Update 3 added Tuesday, 26 June.  Common Dreams now has an article out about the TPP.  I realize I am beginning to sound shrill at this point.  I don’t care.  Every bit of information coming out on this trade agreement is worse than the last – and what I knew about it a month ago was extraordinarily bad.  By the way, add China and Japan as two more countries anticipated to sign the agreement.

To reiterate the final sentence of this article – Go to http://www.citizen.org/tpp, learn more and get involved.  If you pass around one link about the TPP, let this be the one.

    Wow, Teri.

I keep waiting and waiting for press coverage on this topic. I mean, we’re already into two weeks of no coverage of the Big Bank LIBOR Fix, and TPP predates that by weeks. No Coverage!

Soon, TPP will attain BP Oil, Hydraulic Fracturing, and Fukushima Nuclear status:

Wholly unreported upon until we and the rest of the planet are dead because of it.

    No news is no news.

      Paxhonu,

Yeah, nothing. I don’t know how old you are, but I can remember a day when the “leaking” of such secret negotiations, which would affect the entire democratic process of our country, and concealed from even Congress, would have been discussed in depth on every nightly news report across the nation. There would have been calls for impeachment. Chances of the re-election of the incumbent would plummet to zero. His “opponent” would be questioned closely about his views on such a deal (and would vigorously claim to be anti-whatever the issue is, something Romney cannot say with any remote relation to truth in this case).

This is disaster capitalism at its “finest” and most lethal.

warisacrime.org (which only a small percentage of Americans will read) has two articles of interest on the TPP:

      http://warisacrime.org/content/tpp-trade-deal-hell

      http://warisacrime.org/content/stealth-trade-agreement-secret-negotiations

Note that in both articles, Lendman points out that Oblahblah signed the ACTA, without Congressional vote, a couple of years ago, making the obviously false and bizarre statement that the ACTA “is not a trade agreement”. [The TA in ACTA stands for “Trade Agreement”.]

Vote Green. Or stay home. We are beyond the point where it matters.

quote: “although the entire al Qaeda brand name is beginning to be questioned in some quarters as a CIA operation.”

hmmm, I believe that deserves a resounding..DUH!!(no offense intended Teri) But after everything that happened since 9/11(AND prior)..I mean come on! As far as I’m concerned, the Empire is alive and well and the CIA are doing their part to wreck enough fear in the world that the War on Terror(laughing)will continue into perpetuity…and so will the Oligarchy’s profits.

    Hi, pitchfork,
I think you meant to post your comment to the article about Hillary, Russia, and China?

But, yeah, your point is taken.
